What happens when art and science come together? Can artistic perspectives change the way we think about scientific research – and open up new ways of engaging with it?

I would like to warmly invite you to the upcoming hei_INNOVATION Lunch & Learn: “Nicht erklären. Anders zeigen.” (Beyond Explanation: Exploring Science Through Art) on Wednesday, 11 November 2026.

Together with Marcel Kückelhaus from the Käte Hamburger Centre for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies (CAPAS), I will share insights into our experiences with art-science collaborations at Heidelberg University.

I will introduce some of the projects developed through the SciArt Residency programme at CRC 1225 ISOQUANT, where artists and quantum physicists come together to explore scientific questions from different perspectives.

Beyond presenting individual projects, we will discuss what makes these collaborations meaningful, how artists and researchers can inspire one another, and what opportunities and challenges arise when different ways of thinking and working meet.

The session will be moderated by Dr. Jennifer Moldenhauer, Head of Museums, Collections and Cultural Mediation at Heidelberg University, and will offer plenty of room for questions, discussion and exchange.
