Title of Talk: Quantum Field Simulation, From Cosmology to Pattern Formation

Abstract: Quantum simulators offer insights into complex phenomena that pose theoretical challenges. Experimental control over atomic interaction and density distributions enables us to realize a quantum field simulator, where Bogoliubov excitations on top of a mean-field Bose-Einstein condensate can be used to study the dynamics of quantum fields. In particular, we engineer an effective spacetime metric and investigate cosmologically relevant scenarios such as the expansion of space and spatial curvature. Alternatively, through periodic modulation of the metric, we drive the simulator into the regime where occupations of excitations are saturated. Here, we study the emergence of correlated density patterns, and investigate their relation to an attractive fixed point out of equilibrium.
