Description

As few as 10 strongly interacting atoms exhibit collective behaviour similar to pressure-gradient-driven flow. With unprecedented control over the initial conditions and the simple, tunable effective Hamiltonian of cold atoms, we aim to understand how macroscopic dynamics emerges from few-body physics. Leveraging the expertise of both cold-atom and heavy-ion specialists, we will apply and refine advanced collectivity analysis techniques developed for heavy ions to the multi-particle correlations in the cold atom systems. Driving them far from equilibrium, we will utilise the effective macroscopic framework of hydrodynamic attractors to explain the observed collectivity, with the aim of gaining fundamental insight into the dynamics of the quark-gluon plasma.
